This study presents a pH-responsive oral
liposomal delivery system designed for the precision treatment of inflammatory
bowel disease (IBD). The authors encapsulated the hydrogen sulfide (H©üS) donor
GYY4137 into liposomes engineered to enable selective drug release in the colon
in response to gastrointestinal pH changes. The platform achieves localized drug
delivery to inflamed tissues while minimizing systemic side effects and
demonstrates significant anti-inflammatory effects along with improved
intestinal tissue recovery. These findings highlight the potential of oral
nanomedicine-based platforms for IBD treatment and provide valuable direction
for the development of precision immunomodulatory therapies.
